Trailer I Im Menschen muss alles herrlich sein
"What do they see when they look through the curtains into the courtyard of an East German city with their Soviet eyes?" Nina asks herself when she thinks of her mother Tatjana and her friend Lena, who left Ukraine in the mid-1990s and started all over again in Germany.
Lena's daughter Edi has long since stopped asking, she wants nothing to do with her origins.
Lena's fiftieth birthday brings the four women together again. Times of upheaval have dictated their biographies - and they all have to realize that they are part of a story and must constantly struggle to make new beginnings.

In the novel, published in 2021, Sasha Marianna Salzmann tells of the disintegration of political systems, from the time of perestroika to the present day, and traces the inextricable entanglement of the generations. Director Mirja Biel brought the novel to the stage as an Austrian premiere for Theater am Werk.
