"Die Quelle" is a fictional psychological thriller set against the backdrop of the tension between business and the media. It tells the story of a dynamic cat-and-mouse game between the executives of a powerful corporation, dedicated journalists, and a mysterious whistleblower. At its core is the question of how sources are silenced within corporations, how journalists are persecuted—and how, in the end, the truth sometimes prevails.

Over the course of several months, director and writer Calle Fuhr spoke with journalists from Austria and Germany to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms of whistleblowing. In the process, he was also able to make personal contact with some of his sources. The resulting story is, of course, fictional—though it is full of references to real-life cases.
